Key Info
  • The course of the River Severn - from source to sea
  • Duration: 04:50
  • Presenter Vanessa Collingridge follows the course of the Severn, Britain's longest river, from source to sea. The source is a boggy pool into which rain falls and trickles away into a stream. In the upper course the river is fast-flowing, pouring over rocks it can't wear down. In the middle course the river is wider, the valley is flatter and the course is meandering. In the lower course the river is wider still, carrying sand and silt eroded from the river banks.
