Australian Open champion Stuart Bingham is up three places to 12th in snooker's world rankings following his win Down Under.

Mark Williams keeps hold of top spot despite losing 9-8 in the Australian final to Bingham on Sunday.

By reaching the final, Williams stretched his lead over John Higgins at the top of the list to nearly 5,000 points.

Other significant movers are Shaun Murphy - up two places to fifth after reaching the semi-finals - and Stephen Hendry, who is back in the top 16.

Meanwhile, former world champion Ken Doherty has climbed three places to 25th following his run to the last four in Bendigo.

The next full ranking event is September's Shanghai Masters.

The world rankings are based on a rolling two-year period.
