The actress Lee Si-young won the National Amateur Boxing Championships on Thursday.

In the final of women's 48-kg category at the Andong Gymnasium in North Gyeongsang Province, Lee was aggressive from the beginning, and earned a referee-stopped contest victory one minute and 40 seconds into the third round out of four possible rounds, each round lasting two minutes.

Lee's coach Hong Soo-hwan, a former WBA bantamweight and super bantamweight champion, said, "She's improved remarkably in just seven months. Personally, I'm looking forward to the prospect of her competing in the 2012 Olympics in London."

Lee shed tears of joy after the final match, saying she had not expected to win the title.
