Polygamy in Muslim countries
Should Polygamy be illegal in Muslim countries?
Polygamy has been practiced by mankind for thousands of years. King Solomon (peace be upon him) is said to have had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines.
Among all the polygamous societies in history there were none which limited the number of wives except Islam, the regulations concerning polygamy limit the number of wives to four while making the man responsible for all of the women involved.
Taking the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ; He was married to Khadijah, for twenty-five years. It was only after her death when he had reached the age of fifty that he entered the polygamy to create alliances or to show the Muslims how to treat their spouses under different conditions of life...
Polygamy is still practiced in most Muslim countries with the exception of Tunisia and Turkey. A lot of women suffer emotionally when their husband marry other women. It's not fair for them to share the husband they love, and that may affect the kids.
Do you think the other countries should follow Tunisia and Turkey foot steps and make Polygamy illegal?
