Kimberly Diane Leach, 12, disappears from the Lake City Junior High School. Her body is found two months later in a pig sty some 35 miles away.

Bundy is arrested in Pensacola, Fla., on charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. Some 67 counts of auto theft, burglary and theft charges are added to the complaint. He spends the next five months in a Tallahassee jail pending a preliminary hearing.

Bundy is indicted for the Chi Omega murders. He tears up the indictment and screams at police officers, "That's all you're going to get, an indictment."

Two hours after pleading not guilty to the Chi Omega murders, Bundy is charged with kidnapping and murdering Kimberly Leach.

Bundy's trial in the Chi Omega murders is moved to Miami after an impartial jury could not be found in Tallahassee.

Bundy is convicted by a Miami jury of murdering the two Chi Omega sisters and assaulting three others. A week later, he is sentenced to the electric chair.

Bundy's trial for the Lake City killing is moved to Orlando.

Bundy, then 33, is convicted by an Orlando, Fla., jury of abducting and murdering Kimberly Diane Leach. The jury deliberates for seven hours and 15 minutes before returning the guilty verdict.

Bundy appeals his conviction for the Chi Omega killings, claiming a number of trial errors, including the use of controversial "bite marks" and the hypnosis of a witness. The appeals are eventually denied.

Bundy appeals his conviction for killing Kimberly Leach, claiming excessive publicity created a "Bundy mystique" that unfairly prejudiced jurors. The appeals are eventually denied.

Florida prison authorities thwart an escape attempt by Bundy. Guards discovered a loose prison bar, along with hacksaw blades.
