Publishers' International ISBN Directory

The Publishers' International ISBN Directory (PIID) is published by the International ISBN Agency, London and by De Gruyter Saur, Berlin annually (usually October).

The 40th edition of the PIID lists approximately 900,000 prefixes from over 200 countries and territories. Its printed edition is structured in 2 sections:

  • Geographical Section (volumes 1-4) providing names and contact details of over 800,000 active publishing houses arranged alphabetically by country and within country by name
  • Numerical ISBN Section (volumes 5-6) listing all prefixes in numerical order.

The PIID is the most comprehensive up-to-date reference tool for the book-trade and the library world.

Publishers' International ISBN Directory eBookPLUS edition

The PIID eBookPLUS combines the same data as the hard back, printed edition with the research advantages of an online publication. The eBookPLUS format comprises the content and search criteria of the printed edition and its indices, facilitating complex searches. In addition, the electronic version contains details of historical publishers as well as author publishers (one of the largest areas of growth within publishing today).
