Veteran actor Park Geun Hyung was a guest on the October 9th episode of KBS 2TV talk show ‘Win Win’ where he lashed out at some actors’ prima donna attitude at filming sites.

Park Geun Hyung started off by saying, “Acting is something that requires coordination with many people, just like an ensemble. But there are some actors who often just wait it out in their cars, and only coming out when it is their turn to film. When they see me, they would just sheepishly greet me. It is just not right to do this.”

He continued, “Actors need to take into account the production staffs who are working hard, but stars these days rarely care about such things. There are even some who would say, “Wait, I haven’t found the feeling yet,” just prior to the beginning of filming.”

Park Geun Hyung then goes on to criticize such actors for not being serious about their work, and lack the required professionalism. To such actors who lack ability, have a bad attitude, but yet lust over having a status of an actor, Park Geun Hyung unceremoniously labels them as crap actors.

Meanwhile, singer Lee Hyori who tried her hand at acting in the past but got severe criticism for her efforts has revealed lately that she won’t act anymore.

Having built a friendship with Lee Chun Hee on SBS TV variety ‘Family Outing’ previously, Lee Hyori went on his program on XTM as a studio guest. While in conversation with fellow guest Jung GyuWoon, she revealed she will work hard on her upcoming album and will not go into acting again.

Stars aren’t just born from within the entertainment industry. Enjoying a higher form of recognition, there’s no doubting that many popular stars emanate from the entertainment industry. But there are also lots of stars from the sports and financial industries. But because of the unique nature of the entertainment industry, as long as you either sing or act well, you will be able to rise up quickly, and naturally enjoy an elevated status as your popularity surge.

Park Geun Hyung understands the difference between stars and actors, and that is why he is so critical of those prima donnas. Put simply, before becoming a star or actor, you have to learn how to behave like a proper human being. If you lack the character or ability, you will never be recognized as a real star no matter how popular you might be.

There’s no lack of arrogant entertainers in the business. They put on airs in front of production staff, thinking that they are privileged people. If they have the acting ability, it might still be acceptable for viewers. But if you don’t even have the basic acting ability that an actor should have, you should forget about enjoying the privileges that stars should enjoy. Thus you can’t really fault Park Geun Hyung for wanting to put such prima donnas in their place.

In the present society, there are likely to be no jobs that are easier than that of an entertainer. You will understand this point upon seeing numerous youths trying their hardest to break into the entertainment industry. Entertainers need not have to good at their studies, nor do they have to crack their brains hard like an office worker. And there are numerous examples of actors who experience slumps, withstand all the obstacles and come out on top in the end.

As an actor, you will likely have a stable and well paid lifestyle once you enjoy some recognition. Your pay is likely to be the equivalent of an employee in a big corporation. Moreover, you get the star treatment in society. That is no doubt better and much easier than those who try hard to get into prestigious schools and big companies.

Park Geun Hyung and Lee Hyori’s words have no doubt been a wake-up call to those entertainers who have yet reach the status of a star. If you lack acting ability, and just want to enjoy the privileges using your popularity, you are not considered a real actor.

As a popular singer, Lee Hyori could simply just use her influence to carve out a path in acting. In addition, with her high popularity and attractive looks, it won’t be hard for her to get a foot in in the acting business. But she knows deep down inside her heart that she lacks acting ability, and thus she announces publicly that she will not act anymore. This in in comparison to many idol stars these days that just dive headlong into acting, but find themselves being criticized more than getting praises.

Not everyone can be a star, and it’s the same for actors.
