MR (Music Removed) videos have been an increasingly common way for netizens to gauge how well idols perform during live broadcasts, as a way to see how well they can actually sing. Recently, Mnet’s “Idol Chart Show” compared the MR clips of the idol singers, and selected the best of the best.
TVXQ was selected as the overall winner, from a field of Korea’s best idol singers. Their reason? ”Not only can they sing well live, but they dance well while performing!” They showed clips of TVXQ’s comeback MR removed performance for “Keep Your Head Down“, and the proof was in the pudding, folks – these guys are good.
For giggles, the MCs focused on Changmin’s incredible range, but also his habit of pointing upwards with his index finger when he’s going for those big notes. Then, they both commented on how much Yunho has improved since his debut days, by comparing his “Keep Your Head Down” performance to a live performance of “Hug“, where his voice cracked.
Below is the list of final rankings; interestingly enough, figure skater and the nation’s Little Sister Kim Yuna made the list at #15.

yeah.. i love his voice since i know him . but feel very sad that every time when there is some chart like “best singer in kpop” , “best voice in kpop” … i never saw yunho’s name on the list in the past . This is the first time yunho on this kind of chart and he is No.1 together with Changmin , this made me so happy then i saw that he is the best dancer in kpop.

I never thought ever since that Yunho can’t sing. I mean he’s a singer after all, and there’s something in his voice that can’t be taught, it’s a gift not everyone can do.
If it wasn’t for UKnow & Max, I wouldn’t have known DBSK back in 2008. These two caught both my eyes & ears and that was the starting of my KPop life.
After that, I kept reading from YT saying that UKnow cannot sing and I was like what are they talking about. Maybe I’m just too much of HoMin’s biased but I only go wild whenever these two sing their lines in those old songs

I’ve always envy those singers whom can sing basso and tenor because to me it is not easy to sing low yet still sound good or to sing high w/out breaking their vocal. Lots of singers when they sing low it sounded like they are talking w/no tune or when they sing high it sounded like they are screaming w/anger melody. These are not the case with our boys UKnow & Max.
I’m not surprised TVXQ got the #1 spot because I’ve always knew they are great singers but I am very very very happy because this can shown those whom have doubted them when they made a comeback as TVXQ (HoMin) and they are truly worthy of continuing the name TVXQ baby.

You may feel his voice is not clear as others, but there’s something in his voice that I love so much , esp. when he talks.

i agree with you. i love yunho’s voice the most. i first knew tvxq through songs and not their appearance. seriously, yunho’s voice caught my attention. when he started singing, it was like someone just hit my heart with a hammer. and then i was like, “That voice… who is that?”
i immediately went to search for the owner of the voice. when i saw them, i didn’t know who is who, but Yunho caught my attention first and then Changmin. those two have always been my favourite. i was seriously spazzing when i knew that awesome voice belongs to that handsome face XDD

What does MR mean??????
MR = music recorded
MR Removed = music recorded Removed
When you watch a MR removed video, they minimize the background music/instrumentals/chor of the song which was recorded at the studio, so that it maximizes the vocal of the singer from that live performance– it will be the only thing audible ^_^
You can then hear the live vocals by the singers clearly. Netizens have been doing this for some years now, and it got some really interesting results: some idol groups don’t sing at all at music shows, they just move their lips (lipsynch) or they try to sing but it sounds horrible or you can only hear them breathing very loudly.
However, TVXQ and other SM artists have always been praised for their good live vocals

My gosh, I don’t think words can express how proud I am.
This coming from Yunho and Changmin who had always been underestimated vocal wise. I guess while everyone was to busy putting them down, they recognized their weakness and work their best to overcome it.

Yes i agree! They both have come a long way since debut^^ I’ve heard both of their voices crack before and I’ve heard Changmin sing flat along with another member, Yunho do a funny high note, so no singers voice is perfect 100% of the time, not even DBSK, singing at their level must be so hard and easy to strain your voice seeing how often they sing. But mostly they are spot on every time more then any other singer/s I’m interested in, so that’s why they were and will always be best in my opinion. They have so many more times when they sound perfect then not. Now as two I think DBSK’s vocals are hotter, sexier, stronger and better then EVER! and they will continue to overcome every other obstacles that may come their way, SO PROUD OF OUR TWO BOYS! HOMIN HWAITING! TVXQ HWAITING!!! OUR PERFECT SINGING ANGELS ^_________^

I think both of you have your point cos in my opinion, their first to third album most of the lines went to the other three but starting from those Japanese singles & fourth album obviously Changmin got more lines, almost equal to the other three. (*sigh* only my poor Yunho always being left behind..xd)

I personally don’t think it doesn’t matter now how much lines they used to sing. Yunho and Changmin did improve, a lot. I am a Yunho bias and I will be the first person to say that his singing now is miles away from his singin in 2009.

Wow! I am also a Yunho bias. I like him so much. For me, Looks are of great importance, so I like Yunho the best – he is probably the best looking guy in the world. Nobody is perfect, he is good at singing, excellant at dancing and the most handsome guy (most people think). What can we expect more?

He has really improved over the years! I also think that TVXQ going to Japan helped them sing even better. TVXQ will always be legends and gods of K-pop! This #1 shows that people do agree that HoMin can sing and not just the other 3! Every single one of them was meant to be main vocals! I need to say FINALLY, finally Changmin is prize for his singing skills
He always be so underrated… Im so proud of him! I always think he was the best voice from DBSK and until now I still thinking the same, no to mention how he improve his singing so much from the past and his dance skill is like at similar lever than Yunho now.
Yunho on the other hand he always get recognize from his leader being and dance skills, Changmin never have anyone, they never pay attention to his true talent.
His high note are amazing, he always give me gosebumps everytime I hear him.
I will never forget his solo live like “When I first Kiss you” “I love you” “Wild Soul” and one of the most amazing live “Upon this rock”
