Song Joong Ki donated all the profit he earned from narrating a documentary.

Song recorded the narration for the fourth installment of MBC’s Tears of the Earth series, Tears of the Antarctic, and decided to donate all his profits to charity.

Song said, “After seeing the fatherly love among penguins in Tears of the Antarctic, I could strongly feel the love that exists in families. It’s not much, but I hope my donation is used for good causes.”

Who knew that a couple of penguins could make such a difference?

Song was the fourth narrator for the Tears of the Earth series, following Ahn Sung Ki, Kim Nam Gil and Hyun Bin.

Song said he was a great fan of the series, and added, “Because I’ve always been interested in documentaries, I even own the Tears of the Earth series on DVD.” He also revealed that he once won an award at a documentary contest with his friends in college.

Tears of the Earth is a masterpiece documentary that gathers an average of 10% viewership ratings every year, along with a record-breaking documentary rating of 25% for Tears of the Amazon, and is being praised as a video textbook that points out issues on nature and the environment and forecasts the future of the human race.

The last of the series, Tears of the Antarctic, will start with a prologue on December 23 titled Encountering the Edge of the World, and will continue to cover everything on the ecosystem of the Antarctic, including the life of the emperor penguin, which is the most difficult animal to approach in the world.
