KBS drama Big, which was highlighted for being a Hong Sisters drama, concluded with highest ratings for the series.

According to AGB Nielson Media Research on July 25, episode 16 of Big that aired on July 24, recorded 11.1 percent, rising 1.4 percent from episode 15’s 9.7 percent. With this, Big ended with a two-digit rating.

Big received lots of attention for being ‘romance comedy king’ Gong Yoo’s big return to the small screen after five years. Also with Lee Min Jung and miss A’s Suzy, who are at their career peaks, the drama was even ready to attack male viewers.

With a brilliant production team and the title, ‘Hong Sisters drama,’ the anticipation of viewers was great.

This was because writers Hong Miran and Hong Jung Eun were expected to continue their success after fantastic results from Fantasy Couple, You’re Beautiful, My Girlfriend is Gumiho, an 2011’s bit hit, The Greatest Love.

However, luck was not on their side.

Due to the persistence of MBC’s Light and Shadow, Big was overshadowed and unable to see the light, while SBS’ The Chaser received attention for being a well-made drama without any big stars, preventing Big from receiving a rating higher than 10 percent.

The last episode on July 25 showed Lee Min Jung and Gong Yoo, who confirmed their love for each other, reuniting after a year.

The image of the two smiling at each other, under an umbrella as rain fell, was fresh and beautiful, but viewers remained unsettled for the rest of the night.

There were some viewers who took the last episode as a happy ending, but due to the open ended finish, there was a difference in opinion.

Especially with the drama’s focus of ‘soul-swapping,’ the ending wasn’t satisfying, causing a majority of viewers to say, “I don’t understand.”

Because the final soul-swapping was not visibly revealed during the broadcast, a considerable number of viewers fell into confusion, not knowing if the man standing in front of Gil Daran (Lee Min Jung) was Seo Yoon Jae (Gong Yoo) or Kang Kyung Joon (Shin Won Ho).

Meanwhile, Big will be followed up by Haeundae Lovers. With the background at Haeundae, the romantic comedy is about the relationship between a prosecutor, who loses his memory, and the daughter of a mafia gangster. It stars Kim Kang Woo, Jo Yeo Jeong, Jung Seok Won and Kang Min Hyung.
