K-pop heavyweight Super Junior member Kyuhyun will step down from KBS’s talk variety show “Mamma Mia.”

Kyuhyun disclosed his thoughts on retiring the show’s emcee job during his last taping of “Mamma Mia” to be aired this Sunday, according to the show’s promoter Dramatic Talk on Friday.

“I have learned so much from Park Mi-seon and Lee Young-ja [co-hosts of the show], and my affection to my family has also been deepend,” the idol star revealed a sense of frustration to leave the show he has hosted for five months.

The main reason Kyuhyun retiring the show is because “Mamma Mia” is moving its time slot to Wednesday 11:00 p.m. slot, the time zone Kyuhyun’s another talk show “Radio Star” is airing on MBC.

Appearing on two or more TV programs on different channels at the same time is considered as taboo in the Korean broadcasting field.

“It has been our pleasure to work with Kyuhyun so far. Other cast members also feel sorry about his leaving. But we’re also expecting about our upcoming competition on ratings chart,” an official with the producing crew of “Mamma Mia” explained.

From next Wednesday at 11:10 p.m. KST, “Mamma Mia” will continue its air with its new host member and comedian Huh Gyeong-hwan and its existing hosts Park Mi-seon and Lee Young-ja.

“Mamma Mia” is a talk variety show featuring celebrities’ mothers who raised their child to become a star yet is still a normal mother who wants to share memory with their loving child.
