Golden Globes Nominations 2014: ’12 Years a Slave,’ ‘American Hustle’ Lead Field
“12 Years a Slave” and “American Hustle” led the field when the nominations for the 2014 Golden Globes were announced this morning.
“12 Years a Slave” and “American Hustle” received seven nominations each, more than any other nominated films this year.
The movie “Nebraska” was next with five nominations, followed by “Captain Phillips” and “Gravity” with four each.
The movie “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” considered by some to be an awards contender, was shut out of all the nominations, and the film’s co-star, Oprah Winfrey, was also passed over.
Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine”), Sandra Bullock (“Gravity”), Judi Dench (“Philomena”), Emma Thompson (“Saving Mr. Banks”), and Kate Winslet (“Labor Day”) were the nominees for best performance by an actress in a motion picture drama.
Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”), Idris Elba (“Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”), Tom Hanks (“Captain Phillips”), Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”), and Robert Redford (“All is Love”) were nominated for best performance by an actor in a motion picture drama.
“Behind the Candelabra” tied with “House of Cards” for the most nominated TV series or program with four nods apiece. “Breaking Bad,” “Dancing on the Edge,” “The Good Wife” and “The White Queen” all had three nominations.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Theo Kingma, actresses Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde and comic-actor Aziz Ansari announced the nominations at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The Golden Globes are selected by the votes of 84 journalists representing more than 50 countries who are members of the Hollywood Foreign Press.
The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 and will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Glad the race baiting Oprah didn’t make it. Race relations are worse than ever under Obama. Your color doesn’t make you entitled.
Last thing I care about is rich elitist celebrities and their awards. I quit going to movies a long time ago. Nothing worth watching. Why don’t these liberals distribute all their wealth to the poor like they want the rest of us to do.
2 WORDS WALTON GOGGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More liberal pap trying to put perfume on the porch monkeys.
I’d like to see “5 Years a Slave: An American Hustle”
