Shaun Murphy compiled the second 147 maximum break of his career in the Championship League at Crondon Park.

In the internet-streamed event, Murphy made the 103rd maximum in the history of snooker in his opening match against Mark Davis. Murphy went on to win the game 3-2, and ended the day on top of the group after collecting three wins from four outings.

World No. 1 and reigning UK champion Neil Robertson was one of the players to beat Murphy on Wednesday, and the Australian had three wins from three games, with victories against last season's world finalist Barry Hawkins and Joe Perry to add to his triumph over Murphy.

Play resumes on Thursday, with another nine group matches set to take place, with the semi-finals and final also to be played.

Ricky Walden took the honours in Group 1 on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over Judd Trump.
