Netflix added 630,000 U.S. subscribers during the three months ending in June. That performance was slightly above the mid-range target set by Netflix Inc.'s management in April, but less than what many investors were expecting. Here's a breakdown of Netflix's subscribers as of June 30 and details on its forecast:

Streaming:

— 29.8 million in U.S., gain of 633,000 during the second quarter

— 7.75 million outside the U.S., gain of 605,000

— 37.6 million total, gain of 1.2 million

DVD:

— 7.51 million in U.S., loss of 475,000. DVD service is not available in other countries.

Some U.S. customers have both plans and are counted twice. Netflix didn't report the number of unique subscribers.

Forecast for the quarter through September:

Streaming:

— 30.5 million to 31.3 million in U.S.

— 8.3 million to 9.0 million outside U.S.
