KBS’ weekend TV series “My Husband Got a Family” has tightened its firm grasp of the No. 1 spot for a whopping 23 straight week, fighting off it competitors on the weekly ratings chart.

“My Husband Got a Family,” which began its run in February, dominated the chart by earning 42.5 percent of the total viewers during the fourth week of August, according to data compiled by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on Monday.

Ratings for the series managed to breach the 40 percent mark for the second consecutive week, while the family-orientated storyline has captured the hearts of the audience.

This week’s episode, which aired on August 25 and 26, focused on how the step-parents of Bang Gui-nam [played by Yoo Jun-sang], who resided in the United States, visited him and his biological family in Korea.

Following behind the chart-topper, KBS’ daily series “Reaching for the Stars” landed at the No. 2 spot on the chart, registering ratings of 30.1 percent during the same time frame.

KBS’ comedy program “Gag Concert” and its “9 o’clock News” ranked in third and fourth place on the chart by seeing ratings of 24.2 and 22.3 percent, respectively.

KBS’ Wednesday and Thursday primetime series “Bridal Mask” rounded out the top five with ratings of 22.3 percent.

Other programs on the top ten include MBC’s “Infinite Challenge,” SBS’ “I Like Sundays,” KBS’ “Love in Asia,” MBC’s “Angel’s choice“ and KBS’ “Happy Sunday.”

Meanwhile, AGB Nielson Media Research’s data announced this morning slightly different figures with “My Husband Got a Family” standing strong atop its chart as well.

While the Kim Nam-joo and Yoo Jun-sang show drew in 38 percent of the total viewers this week, KBS’ “Reaching for the Stars” and “Gag Concert” nabbed the No. 2 and No. 3 title, recording 27.6 and 23 percent, respectively.
