Former world champion Neil Robertson cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Wuxi Classic with a 5-0 victory over Mark King.

The Australian made breaks of 96, 75 and 111 as he blew away his fellow left-hander to set up a last-eight meeting with Cao Yupeng.

"Any time you win 5-0 you have to be pleased," Rorbertson told World Snooker's official website.

"I made a couple of mistakes but overall I cued beautifully. It will be a tough match against Cao, he has come on a lot within the last two or three years.

"It's really important to do well in China because there is a lot of money to be earned and the fans are very supportive."

Home favourite Cao reached his first ranking quarter-final with a 5-3 win over Ben Woollaston, compiling breaks of 65, 79, 60, 71 and 73 in during the victory.

Higgins through

Meanwhile, John Higgins booked his place in the last eight with a 5-0 thrashing of home player Xiao Guodong. Joe Perry, a 5-2 winner over David Gilbert, is next up for the Scotsman.

Ali Carter, however, was a surprise casualty, as the world number 16 was beaten 5-4 by Kilkenny's David Morris.

The victory is a timely boost for the Irishman after he only retained his place on the tour by coming through Q school in May, while he will now face Matthew Stevens for a place in the final four.

Robert Milkins and Anthony Hamilton will meet in the top half's other quarter-final as the former recorded a 5-1 win over Scott Donaldson and the latter beat Mark Williams 5-3.
