Big Man’s lead actor Kang Ji Hwan revealed that he visually transformed himself for his role.

On April 28, KBS2’s new drama Big Man held a press conference in a restaurant in Yeouido-do, during which Kang Ji Hwa revealed, “I prepared many items for my role but I also gained 4 kilograms in order to act out as a gangster.”

He continued, “The pictures of me dressed in suits or selling things at a market street have been revealed previously but I will be going through four major transformations throughout the drama. I gained 4 kilograms and even bought a jacket and re-designed it by sewing in patches myself.”

He also shared, “I bought old-fashioned clothes at the market square and even when Mira (Lee Da Hee) buys me suits to wear in the drama, I untied the necktie and made my hair messy on purpose. I want to show the perfect appearance once I become a true leader in the drama.”

“I changed the tone of my voice and slurred my speech,” added Kang Ji Hwan. “You’ll probably be able to see the lead actor with the strangest accent so far. I think it was necessary to express my character. As Ji Hyuk’s mind and situation change, he will not only look different but the way he speaks will also change.”

Kang Ji Hwan will be acting as ‘Kim Ji Hyuk’ who goes from living a low-class life to becoming one of Korea’s best leaders in the economy.

Meanwhile, Big Man will air the first episode on April 28.
