Walsall potter Mark Joyce will face Marco Fu in the World Open quarter-finals tomorrow (Friday) after a stunning run in China.
Joyce has beaten David Morris, world number four Barry Hawkins and Kurt Maflin to reach a major ranking event quarter-final for only the second time in his career.
Joyce - whose other last-eight appearance was at the UK Championship in 2010 - hit breaks of 72, 95 and 75 in thrashing Morris 5-2 in round one.
He then came from 4-2 down to beat world number four Hawkins with breaks of 65, 68 and 72.
Joyce also trailed Norway's Maflin 2-0 in their last-16 clash but fought back to win 5-3 in a scrappy affair.
Now he faces Hong Kong ace Fu - who edged out former world champion Neil Robertson in a final frame thriller - with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.
The tournament is being televised on Eurosport but keep tuned to walsalladvertiser.co.uk for updates.
