GREENBURGH - The next potential star Rangers forward was outfitted head-to-toe in his new team's gear yesterday, and not solely out of enthusiasm.

When the Rangers tabbed Alexei Cherepanov with the 17th overall pick in last week's entry draft, they brought him directly to New York without a chance to fetch his gear. The result has been the 18-year-old Russian forward taking part in the team's weeklong Prospect Development Camp in rigid, brand-new skates and with a stick he had never used before. And yet even then he has still managed to impress.
