Block B’s Zico attends funeral of Sewol ferry victim; dedicates rap to her at “Blockbuster” concert
The family of a young girl who lost her life in the Sewol ferry disaster made efforts to contact Block B’s Zico, knowing that their daughter was a huge fan of him.
Zico showed up to the funeral of Hyewon to pay his respects, handing them a handwritten letter and even comforting family members while he was there.
Family members say that he was very emotional at the funeral, crying and spending over an hour and a half with them.
Hyewon was a high school student, heavily involved with the group’s fan club. She was planning on attending Block B’s upcoming concert, which was on her birthday.
During one of his solo stages at the recent “Blockbuster” concerts he dedicated part of his rap to her:
Inside this unending accident
Without a shield, I endured with my bare body
A fancy award-winning career, That’s nothing
You all are my medals and trophies that I’ve gained in these 3 years
Though my shoulders are heavy
I can never let go of this burden
Each person has their own cross to bear
My one rest that makes my heart race is always taboo
PS. Hyewon, I pray that you will hear this song
