'Betty's' Zellweger to present Sci-Tech kudos

Renee Zellweger, soon to be seen toplining “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” has been tapped to present the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards Saturday at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Portions of this year’s Sci-Tech kudos will be lensed for inclusion in the March 25 Oscar kudocast, including the Gordon E. Sawyer Award given to Irwin W. Young, among others.

Zellweger will appear during the March 25 telecast to introduce the Sci-Tech seg. The Oscar appearance will mark a first for the thesp.

Kudos are presented by the Academy for “devices, methods, formulas, discoveries or inventions of special value to the arts and sciences of motion pictures.”
