This past May, after a five-and-a-half year wait from the fourth season's release, Paramount Home Media Distribution finally put out the fifth season on DVD...officially "jumping the shark" in the process with the long-awaited 3-part episode, "Hollywood." Now the studio is ready to go to a Colorado dude ranch, with Happy Days - The 6th Season on DVD and its 3-part season opener, "Westward Ho!"
Releasing on December 2nd, this production year didn't include very many "big name" guest stars, but it DID feature the return of music artist Suzi Quatro as "Leather Tuscadero," Richard Moll (Night Court) in the two-part story, "Fonzie's Funeral," return appearances in the second part of that story by Pat Morita as "Arnold," Ed Peck as "Police Officer Kirk," and the Laverne & Shirley gang (Penny Marshall as "Laverne," Cindy Williams as "Shirley," Michael McKean as "Lenny," David L. Lander as "Squiggy," and Eddie Mekka as "Carmine Ragusa").
The BIG guest name this season, though was the recently-departed Robin Williams in "Mork Returns," an episode directly tied to (and aired on the same night as) "The Fifth Anniversary Show." Paramount has informed retailers that this will be included on the DVD, as well as a Videogram of some sort (details weren't provided). Pricing and package art for this 4-disc set haven't been made available just yet, but stay tuned! NOTE: unfortunately there is NO word yet about a DVD release for the fourth and final season of Mork & Mindy. We're on the constant lookout for this, and we'll bring you news about it should the studio EVER give us any info about releasing it!
