Ed Price sat in a corner table at Down the Street Caf� on Thursday afternoon with his wife, brother and sister-in-law, dutifully downing his collard greens, black-eyed peas and ham, just as he has every year since -- well, since as far back as he could remember.

"This has been our tradition," Price said. "We were tempted to change it because it didn't seem to do very good last year."
