Airing the first episode on November 12, SBS’s upcoming drama Pinocchio revealed the explanation on Pinocchio Syndrome that Park Shin Hye suffers from in the drama.

The Pinocchio Syndrome introduced on Pinocchio’s official website is a made-up syndrome that does not actually exist.

Six Symptoms of Park Shin Hye’s ‘Pinocchio Syndrome’ Revealed

First of all, Pinocchio Syndrome is a syndrome that causes hiccups when telling a lie due to a problem in the autonomic nervous system and it is a nontreatable syndrome that appears in about 1 out of 43 people.

People suffering from Pinocchio Syndrome hiccup even if they lie through the phone or text message.

However, once they correct the lie the hiccupping stops.

The hiccups that start from telling a petty lie naturally stops over time but a big lie that goes against their conscience will not stop until they correct it.

Since they cannot even tell lies of everyday life, such as ‘Your daughter is very beautiful,’ they often have a hard time making friends or adapting to work life.

Lastly, Pinocchio Syndrome makes it obvious when the sufferer tells a lie so people absolutely believe everything the sufferer says.

Pinocchio is centered around the topic of a unique condition called ‘Pinocchio Syndrome’ and the romance and growth of reporters, who must always tell the truth.

The production team of Pinocchio stated, “We will be telling a story about things we mindlessly say in every day lives through the made-up syndrome called ‘Pinocchio Syndrome.’ Please show your love and interest in one man who lives under falsehood and a woman who cannot tell a lie and whether or not they will be able to discover the truth after they become reporters.”

Meanwhile, Pinocchio starring Lee Jong Suk, Park Shin Hye, Kim Young Kwang and Lee Yubi is set to air the first episode on November 12.
