2014 Florida election results: Rick Scott wins, medical marijuana falls short

Rick Scott will retain his position as Florida governor.

After millions of votes were cast on Nov. 4, there were some upsets and surprises. Here are the results:

Florida governor

Rick Scott will remain as Florida's governor after getting 48 percent of the vote (2,858,119), while Charlie Crist was defeated, having 47 percent of the vote (2,786,643).

Attorney general

Pam Bondi retains her position as Florida attorney general, pulling in 55 percent of the vote, or 3,214,176. Challenger George Sheldon took 42 percent, or 2,444,162 votes.

Chief financial officer

Jeff Atwater retains his position as chief financial officer, pulling in 59 percent, or 3,344,724 votes. Opponent Will Rankin pulled in 41 percent, or 2,325,202 votes.

Agriculture commissioner

Adam Putnam retains his position as agriculture commissioner by having 59 percent, 3,333,692 votes. Opponent Thad Hamilton had 41 percent, or 2,343,278 votes.

Amendment 1

Floridians approved the conservation amendment with 75 percent, or 4,221,161 voting yes, while 25 percent, or 1,412,476 voted no.

Amendment 2

While 3,355,435 voted yes for medical marijuana, or 58 percent, the amendment fell short of the 60 percent needed in order to pass. More than 2.4 million voted no.

Amendment 3

The judicial vacancies amendment was voted down with 52 percent, or 2,792,619 voting no, while 48 percent, or 2,567,630 voted yes.
