Attorney wins four at Blue Dragon Awards

Legal drama The Attorney 변호인 was the main winner at the 35th Blue Dragon Awards, held last night in Seoul.
Loosely based on the life of late South Korean president Roh Moo-hyun, the YANG Woo-seok 양우석 | 楊宇碩 film won four prizes: Best Film, Best Actor (SONG Gang-ho 송강호 | 宋康昊), Best Supporting Actress (KIM Yeong-ae 김영애 | 金姈愛) and one of the four Popular Star awards (IM Shi-wan 임시완).
Noir thriller A Hard Day 끝까지 간다 and Kundo: Age of the Rampant 군도 민란의 시대 | 群盜 each won three prizes. The former won Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (JO Jin-ung 조진웅 | 趙震雄) and Best Editing. The latter won a trio of technical awards: Best Cinematography, Best Lighting and Best Score. However, Best Cinematography and Best Lighting are presented as one category.
Previously nominated for Best Supporting Actress with Sunny 써니 (2011), CHEON U-hui 천우희 won her first Blue Dragon Award for her leading role in Han Gong-ju 한공주. The indie hit also won the Best New Director award for LEE Su-jin 이수진.
KIM Han-min 김한민 | 金漢珉 won the Best Director prize for his blockbuster war epic Roaring Currents 명량.
Continuing his winning streak, pop idol PARK Yu-cheon 박유천 | 朴裕仟 took the Best New Actor award for Haemoo 해무 | 海霧. Despite having a prolific career in films and television dramas since 2009, KIM Sae-ron 김새론 | 金賽綸 won the Best New Actress prize for A Girl at My Door 도희야.
Haemoo also won the Best Art Direction award. High-sea adventure The Pirates 해적 바다로 간 산적 | 海賊 won Best Special Effects.
