The government and the people of the Republic of Palau are proud to host the 45th Pacific Islands Foru. We welcome all Forum leaders, delegates and guests to the North Pacific.
To kick off this year’s Pacific Islands Forum, the 45th Pacific Islands Forum Organizing Committee creatively planned the official operning ceremony to showcase the diversity and beauty of the Pacific focusing on the importance of our ocean, this year’s Forum them. Majority of events will be held in Koror, Palau’s most populous state. The official opening ceremony will be conducted on the grounds of the National Capitol in Ngerulmud, Melekeok. Since identifying venues for the event, the Organizing Committee has worked around the clock to ensure that everything is in place to officially welcome Forum leaders and all guests to the Republic. Following the Plenary Formal Session on July 30, 2014 in Koror leaders will then travel south to Peleliu State, one of Palau’s outlying states for the Leader’s Retreat and for the signing of the Forum communiqué.
Numerous side events will be organized by international, local and regional organizations throughout the duration of the Forum. The events will be held at different venues around Koror, however the Organizing Committee has announced that the Bethlehem Park located in the heart of Koror will be used for hosting night markets, vendors and booths for leaders and guests to enjoy. Guests will be able to purchase local products as well as enjoy local music and entertainment during the entire duration of the Forum.
