Real life inspires 'X-Ray'; Case of imprisoned al-Qaida suspect being staged at Gorilla Tango Theatre.(Arts)

Albuquerque director Brandon Scott Jensen had just learned that terrorist suspect and Australian national David Hicks had been charged after being held for several years at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
Jensen is directing playwright Chris Tugwell's "X-Ray," a play that looks into a day in jail for Hicks, a suspected al-Qaida fighter.
Hicks had been held without being charged in Camp X-Ray at Guantanamo Bay since late 2001 when he was captured with Taliban forces in Afghanistan.
The Albuquerque premiere will be staged starting Friday, Nov. 4, at the Gorilla Tango Theatre.
Jensen said when he was looking for a play to direct, he wasn't looking for anything "quite this politically motivated. …
