Robertson won his first title since the Wuxi Classic at the start of the season as he claimed the 25,000 Euro top prize on Poland's Baltic coast. It's his second victory in the city of Gdynia having triumphed in 2012, and he also won a tournament in Warsaw in 2011.
The Australian won seven matches at the season's sixth and last Kreativ Dental European Tour event, culminating in an impressive whitewash over Williams. Breaks of 65 and 46 helped Robertson win the first two frames, and he made a superb 63 clearance to snatch the third after Williams had opened with a run of 67. And Robertson completed the result in fine fashion with a break of 109.
The top 24 on the Kreativ Dental European Tour will now be eligible to enter the Players Championship Grand Finals in Thailand later this month, alongside the top eight from the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
"I played well over the two days and scored heavily," said Robertson. "I'm really pleased because I hadn't done well in the European Tour events so far this season, and coming here I wasn't sure of my place in the Grand Finals. I haven't entered the Shoot-Out or the Indian Open so making sure of a place in Thailand now gives me a good run up to the World Championship. Since winning in Wuxi I had gone too long without taking a title so I'm glad to end that run. I can really enjoy the rest of the season now and focus on winning again.
"We've played four tournaments in Poland and I've won three of them so that shows how much I enjoy playing here. I get great support from the fans, and the events here feel like the big ranking events because the crowds are so good. "
It was a fine sporting day for Chelsea-fan Robertson as he saw his team beat Tottenham 2-0 in the League Cup final, helped by a goal from friend John Terry. "I had a bit of time before my semi-final so I watched the second half in the hotel," said Robertson. "It gave me a really good boost before my next match. It's a great double for me today."
Welshman Williams continued his return to form with his run to the final and the two-time World Champion has further boosted his hopes of being inside the top 16 in April and avoiding having to qualify for the Crucible.
