Tijuana, Mexico becomes Wuhan's 20th sister city

        On the morning of July 12, Wuhan and Tijuana officially established relations as sister cities, and Tijuana became Wuhan's 20th sister city.


        According to the agreement that the delegations from Wuhan and Tijuana signed, the two cities will promote cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, and education. Wuhan is the third Chinese city to become a sister city of Tijuana. Panjing of Liaoning Province and Changchun of Jilin Province are also Tijuana's sister cities. Wuhan and Tijuana have maintained a good relationship for many years. In 2012, the leaders of the two cities had mutual visit to each other.


        Tijuana sits along the northwestern border of Mexico. It is close to the U.S. and is the fourth largest and one of the richest cities in the country. With a population of 2 million, it also boasts the world's largest production base for TV sets and wireless earphones.


        The other 19 sister cities of Wuhan are: Oita, Japan; Pittsburgh, the U.S.; Duisburg, Germany; Manchester, the UK; Galati, Romania; Kiev, Ukraine; Khartoum, Sudan; Gyor, Hungary; Bordeaux, France; Arnhem, the Netherlands; Cheongju, South Korea; Saint Polten, Austria;Christchurch, New Zealand; Markham, Canada; Borlange, Sweden; Kopavogur, Iceland; Ashdod, Israel; Essonne, France; and Izmir, Turkey.
