Who's on First?

Instrumentation: five double-basses (at least one with C string or B extension)

"Who's on First?" for five double-basses integrates elements of jazz in a light-hearted take on Abbot and Costello's classic routine. Commissioned by the Russian Arts Foundation, for the bass quintet of the Russian National Orchestra, the piece was premiered by the qunitet at Villa Montalvo in Los Gatos, California, and recorded by them in Moscow.
