Horvitz to direct 2001 kudocast

Emmy Award-winning director Louis J. Horvitz will helm his fifth consecutive Academy Awards with this year’s broadcast.

“Lou’s great talent is in telling the story,” said 73rd Annual Oscarcast producer Gil Cates. “He focuses on the excitement of the moment.”

Horvitz received his third Emmy for his direction of the 72nd Academy Awards broadcast and is one of Hollywood’s most prolific television directors, with more than 6,000 hours of programming to his name.

Other high-profile specials to Horvitz’s credit include last year’s broadcasts of the Kennedy Center Honors, the daytime and primetime Emmys, and “The VH1 Fashion Awards.”
