Recent Offshore Rig Activity Notes Sample
Below is a sample of the 20 rig activity notes from the last week available to RigLogix subscribers.
April 2   |   Eirik Raude   |   10,000 ft.   Semisub
Premier Oil says its Zebedee exploration well encountered 81 feet of net oil-bearing reservoir and 55 feet of net gas-bearing reservoir. Multiple targets were penetrated in the Cretaceous F2 and F3 formations with a total hydrocarbon net pay of 136 feet and primarily located in the Hector and Zebedee sands. No oil-water contact was observed in Zebedee. The Eirik Raude will now move to drill Isobel Deep prospect.

April 1   |   Olinda Star   |   3,600 ft.   Semisub
Karoon has begun drilling operations on the third well in their Santos Basin program. QGOG's Olinda Star (midwater semisub) is being used to drill the well. Echidna is located in Block S-M-1102 northeast of the Kangaroo discovery. The well is expected to reach TD during April. If successful, Echidna could materially add to any possible development of Kangaroo. Karoon has one option well left on the Olinda Star.

March 30   |   GSF Celtic Sea   |   5,750 ft.   Semisub
VAALCO says its first exploration well on Angola's Block 5, Kindele-1, was found to be water-bearing. Transocean's GSF Celtic Sea (DW semisub) drilled the well to a depth of 6000 feet and given the results, the decision was made not to take the well down to the planned depth of 7,382 feet. However, non-commercial hydrocarbon shows in the Pinda Group were encountered indicating a proven hydrocarbon system. In October 2014 VAALCO and Sonangol P&P; entered into a subsequent exploration phase on Block 5 and agreed to drill four exploration wells during the extension period which expires in November 2017.

March 30   |   Discoverer Americas   |   12,000 ft.   Drillship
Statoil has drilled its eighth natural gas discovery offshore Tanzania with the Mdalasini-1 exploration well in Block 2. Mdalansini-1 encountered an additional 1.0 - 1.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas which brings the total in-place volumes up to approximately 22 tcf in Block 2. The well was drilled using Transocean's Discoverer Americas (UDW drillship). This well wraps up a successful first phase of a multi-well exploration program for Statoil offshore Tanzania. Statoil now plans to evaluate their next steps and mature new prospects.

March 26   |   Key Gibraltar   |   300 ft.   Jackup
KrisEnergy successfully encountered oil and natural gas with their Rossukon-2 exploration well in G6/48 offshore Thailand. Rossukon-2 was drilled to a TD of 5,460 feet using the Key Gibraltar (300' ILC) and encountered 69 feet of oil-bearing sandstones and 37 feet of gas-bearing sandstones over five reservoir intervals. Forward-looking plans call for a sidetrack to be drilled to further define the lateral extent of the hydrocarbon columns and explore for new zones.
