GLOUCESTER potter Jack Lisowski admitted he was a relieved man after staggering over the line to make it to the third round of the UK Snooker Championship.

The 23-year-old went 4-0 up against Liang Wenbo in York but the world No.25 hit back after the interval to reduce to deficit to 5-4, including a well-crafted 114 in the ninth frame.

But Lisowski held on to set up a clash with former world champion Shaun Murphy and expressed afterwards just how grateful he was to have got over the line at the Barbican.

“I started off quite well and went 4-0 up but I knew he was going to come back at me,” he said. “I lost a couple of close frames and he started playing much better.

“I fell over the line to be honest. Sometimes you can try too hard but thankfully I won. I can take a lot of confidence from this because I know how good Liang is.

“I practice with him all the time so if I’m beating him, I’m playing pretty well.”

Meanwhile Robert Milkins also progressed to the third round after cruising past an out of form Marcus Campbell, winning 6-0 despite struggling with an eye infection.

He said: “I don’t want to be disrespectful to Marcus because I can still see, but a lot of shots I had blurred vision.

“The doctor gave me eye-drops, but they have not really hit the sides and I need to sort it out or I will struggle.

“It’s hard because at this level you need everything to be perfect; if it’s not you won’t go far.”
