Description:

The driving force behind this development zone is DongFeng Motors and the auto parts suppliers that the giant car producer brings with it. The output of the zone's auto and auto parts sectors in 2007 amounted to RMB 51.6 billion (amounting to 68.3% of the zone's total GDP). Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Honda, and Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen have all established facilities here.

Besides the automobile industry, the household electronic appliance industry and electronics industries are also developing rapidly in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. In 2007, the total output of these two sectors amounted to RMB 17.3 billion, accounting for 23% of the zone's total output.

This zone also includes an export processing zone to serve manufacturers producing for export.
