    William Whitfield II May 20 1715 Mar 31 1795 his wife Rachel Bryan Jun 10 1723 Nov 1780 Needham Whitfield Feb 20 1758 Apr 6 1812 His Wives Lucy Hatch Nov 13 1756 Jul 23 1789 Elizabeth Hatch Sep 3 1760 NOD Sarah Watkins Feb 28 1777 NOD Penelope Bush 1756 Mar 4 1816 William Whitfield III 1743-1817 Married (1) 1763 Hester Williams (2) Mrs Sarah Hurst (3) 1792 Hepzibah Hatch (4) Sarah Bryan Hatch He was father of 29 children 21 reached maturity. His eldest son William had raised a family before his youngest William Alexander was borne him by his fourth wife. This William died in 1904 which was 161 years after the birth of his father. William III and his brother Needham served in the Revolution and helped destroy the Tories in the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge, Feb 27 1776. In 1787 William III together with his eldest son and Joseph Green were appointed "Directors and Trustees" for designing and building the town of "Waynesboro" now Goldsboro.
