Washington Times Names Ed Kelley As Editor
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Times has announced Ed Kelley as its new editor.
Kelley will oversee the newspaper’s news coverage and opinion content. Kelley, 58, comes to The Times from The Oklahoman, where he has worked since 1975 — most recently as editor. In 1996, the National Press Foundation named him editor of the year for overseeing coverage of the deadly bombing at Oklahoma City’s Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.
Washington Times president Thomas McDevitt said in a statement Friday that the newspaper was fortunate to have an editor with Kelley’s experience and stature. He starts July 1 in the newly created position.
The Washington Times was founded in 1982 by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon. The conservative opinion pages are often viewed as an alternative to the Washington Post.
