Lionsgate and Hulu together have acquired North American rights to Jeff Baena’s comedy Joshy, which will be distributed through Lionsgate’s specialty film label Lionsgate Premiere. It also will stream exclusively on Hulu following its theatrical run. Joshy had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Completion section.

The move continues Lionsgate’s relationship with the online streamer; the company already has four original TV series on Hulu.

Joshy is about the emotionally inept nature of male bonding. After his engagement ends badly, Josh (Thomas Middleditch) decides to take advantage of his bachelor-party plans in Ojai, CA, with the few screwed-up friends still willing to join him. Adam Pally, Alex Ross Perry, Nick Kroll, Brett Gelman and Jenny Slate also star.
