Despite KBS’ Love Rain concluding on a rather lackluster note, with the final episode earning only 5.9 percent viewership ratings on May 29, KBS isn′t too disappointed, as the station is expecting huge profits from distribution and airing abroad.

The anticipation and reaction for Love Rain abroad has been explosive from the start.

Some 12 different global regions have already agreed to import Love Rain and its reception in Japan is already hinting it may become Korea’s most profitable drama in the island nation.

A source close to the Love Rain production shared, “We have sold the distribution rights to twelve regions including not only Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia and Singapore, but the Americas and Europe.”

The profits from Love Rain’s exports and sales to these regions is already estimated to easily reach 50 billion won, which would make it one of Korea′s most profitable dramas abroad.

Regarding this, the same source added, “We don’t know the exact numbers in profits but it’s true the drama has been receiving passionate responses overseas.”
