American boy Mickey Salisbury, whose father died from SARS in Hong Kong April 9 after being transferred from Shenzhen, has returned to the United States after recovering from mild SARS. The 6-year-old boy's grandfather, who lives in Wuhan, said Mickey was discharged from Hong Kong's Tuen Mun Hospital April 23 and returned to the U.S. April 25. Mickey was accompanied by his Chinese-American mother Xiong Jiahui, according to a woman surnamed Peng, a friend of Xiong, speaking in Shenzhen. The boy was now staying in a hotel just in case, said Peng. He has triplet younger sisters in America. The boy's father, James Salisbury, was the first American to have died of the disease. Mickey contracted the virus from his father and was transferred to Hong Kong for treatment. He was quarantined with a mild case of SARS and never had high fever. The domestic helper at Salisbury's home in Shenzhen was confirmed to be free of infection.
