With every year at CNN comes a new decade.

The Time Warner-owned cable-news network will launch “The Eighties” as part of a spate of documentary series examining recent decades of history, on Thursday, March 31, at 9 p.m. Eastern. The seven-part series follows the network’s “The Sixties” and “The Seventies,” which aired in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

“The Eighties” is produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, and uses archival footage and interviews with historians, musicians, journalists and television artists. “The Eighties” will examine everything from the Ronald Reagan presidency to the AIDS crisis to the end of the Cold War. The first episode will last two hours and focus on the television of the era (“The Seventies” featured an episode with a similar theme).
