Aboriginal Corrections

Aboriginal offenders continue to be disproportionately represented at all levels of the Canadian criminal justice system. At the end of March 2007, Aboriginal people comprised 17.0% of federally sentenced offenders although the general Aboriginal population is only 2.7% of the Canadian adult population.

The Correctional Service of Canada's (CSC) strategic plan for Aboriginal Corrections ensures a federal correctional system that responds to the needs of all offenders and contributes to safe and healthy communities.
