Ronnie O'Sullivan return ends in defeat to Michael Holt
Ronnie O'Sullivan suffered a 5-2 defeat to Michael Holt in the second round of the Shanghai Masters - his first tournament since the World Championship in April.
O'Sullivan, playing his second competitive match since his Crucible defeat to Barry Hawkins in April, was a 5-4 winner over Liang Wenbo in the first round, but could not reproduce his winning form against Holt, who trailed 2-1 before winning four straight frames to progress.
Holt made breaks of 120, 57 and 64 to progress to the quarter-finals with O'Sullivan enjoying modest runs of 64 and 55.
Judd Trump lost 5-3 to Michael White after leading 2-0 while John Higgins went down 5-2 to Ali Carter and 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham overpowered David Gilbert by the same score.
