ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Governor Nathan Deal announced Wednesday morning that, for the fourth year in a row, Georgia is ranked the top state in the nation to do business.

Site Selection Magazine releases the top states in business every November. The rankings are determined by a survey of corporate site selectors and a system which tracks new and expanded business facility activity. Site Selection's editor-in-chief, Mark Arend, says, "Georgia’s top ranking is based on where corporate expansion projects are occurring and where investors say they want to commit their capital for the long term. The state’s fiscal soundness, predictable economic and regulatory climate, workforce and transportation infrastructure are the main reasons for investing in Georgia."

The Governor said this top honor highlights the "vitality of our state economy and the business-friendly environment that continues to help companies grow."

This news comes a month after state officials announced the unemployment rate in Georgia dropped to 4.9 percent, matching the U.S. rate. It marked the first time in nine years that Georgia's unemployment rate has been as low as the national rate.

Even more job opportunities are making their way to Georgia. Last month, Mayor Kasim Reed announced that Anthem Inc., one of the largest health benefits companies, and Honeywell, a Fortune 500 company, both chose to make the Bank of America building in midtown Atlanta their home. Combined, both businesses will create over 2,600 jobs.
