Cube Entertainment’s rookie group BTOB made its debut with a showcase on March 21.

At the showcase, the BTOB members unveiled their title song Secret as well as another track Imagine, displaying all the skills that they had honed in the meantime. A crowd of reporters were present at the showcase along with a good number of music officials.

Moreover, BTOB’s performance was aired live through its official YouTube channel. Although it was the group’s first stage performance, BTOB was able to calmly complete its performances without encountering any glaring mistakes.

BTOB also revealed its plan to ‘reach out to the world through its music’, which seemed like quite the dream for a rookie group.

That same day, Cube Entertainment CEO Hong Seung Seong got up on the stage and said, “[They are] a part of our agency and different from B2ST and 4minute. BTOB has come a long way and is ready to win the love and support of the whole world. It’s going to be worth the wait!”

So what kind of competitive edge does BTOB possess in order to ‘make inroads into the global music market’?

A rep from BTOB’s agency answered, “BTOB members all possess the necessary musical qualifications [that are needed to appeal to the global audience].”

Several BTOB members have already received recognition for their acting abilities. Out of the seven members in the group, Seo Eun Kwang, Lim Hyun Sik, Jung Il Hoon and Lee Min Hyuk have made their acting debuts on jTBC’s sitcom I Live in Cheongdamdong. In the sitcom, they appeared as the idol group Undefeated Cheongdam and were awaiting their debut (just like they were in real life), drawing a lot of laughs from viewers.

Although they are a rookie group, BTOB members were able to showcase their advanced acting and, just like they had in the sitcom, made their actual debut in the real world. Along with the four members from the sitcom, Peniel D. Shin, Lee Chang Sub and Yoon Sung Jae round out the seven member group.

Although Cube Entertainment’s other two idol groups, B2ST and 4minute, experienced difficulties with their overseas activities due to a language barrier, BTOB will not experience the same obstacles thanks to its Korean American member, Peniel D. Shin.

Moreover, the members also learned Japanese and Mandarin during their training days and Lim Hyun Sik greeted the showcase audience in both languages, showing their clear intent to expand their activities globally.

Language and acting weren’t the only things on display, as BTOB also showed off its above average singing ability. The members had no problems with Lee Seung Chul’s Western Sky and also showed off their stage performance and vocal range.

Furthermore, two of its members, Jung Il Hoon and Lee Min Hyuk, personally participated in the making of the debut album. The two worked on the lyrics of Secret as well as the rap lines from Imagine.

Cube Entertainment strongly hinted that the abundant abilities of BTOB will further reveal itself in the upcoming album.

We′ll have to wait to find out just how far the winds will take BTOB in its ongoing global expansion quest.
