BC Stats is the provincial government’s leader in statistical and economic research and analysis. Providing expert interpretation of data sources, BC Stats increases overall business intelligence across government and adds value to data and information by creating statistics essential for evidence-based decision making and policy development.

BC Stats also provides a broad range of statistical information, services and resources for other public and private sector clients – for example:

  • Economic and business impact assessments
  • Population and demographic estimates and trends
  • Work environment surveys
  • Development of indicators on labour and social conditions
  • Tabulation of international exports and imports
  • Post-secondary research and accountability

Info for Survey Participants

Participation in all BC Stats’ surveys is voluntary but very important.

By taking the time to answer all survey questions, you make it possible for BC Stats to continue to produce reliable and valid data that supports important policy and program decisions.

Surveys can be done by mail, phone or via the Internet. Phone surveys are conducted during the day or evening and sometimes on the weekend. They are administered by various market research firms including Advanis, NRG Research Group, R.A. Malatest and Associates, and Sentis Market Research Inc.

Under the Statistics Act, all information provided to BC Stats is kept confidential, and is only used for statistical purposes. We do not release any information that could identify individuals or businesses without their consent.

Confirm the legitimacy of a BC Stats survey by:

  • Looking up the name of your survey in the list of current surveys
  • Contacting the toll-free survey line at 1 888 447-4427
