Welcome
Welcome to the Waterford Film Festival. This year marks the 11th Annual Event of the the festival! Since 2007 we have screened 500 films from local, national and international filmmakers.
The festival has supported writers with our screenplay competition, in which the winners have received financial support and access to filming equipment with our partners at FilmLab. The value of the awards that we have given to filmmakers & writers since 2007 with Filmlab is over €30,000.
The festival has given many filmmakers their films first outing in which in many cases those films went onto screen in major film festivals around the World.
At the Waterford Film Festival , we screen both fiction and documentary films, that have been moving, made us laugh and have pulled at our heartstrings. We have seen films that have show us many different peoples lives and cultures, that have intrigued and inspired.
The festival team would like to thank our core funders the Waterford City & County Council for their continued support for over a decade!

Film Awards
Each year the festival gives a cash award and a certificate for the Waterford City & County Council Award for Best Short Film & a Waterford Crystal engraved trophy. We also give an award for runners up for best short film.

Script Awards
In our screenplay competition there will be up to 20 finalists. Each finalist will receive a certificate. The overall winner will receive a cash award, Waterford Crystal Award plus access to a weeks worth of filming equipment and a weeks worth of editing facilities sponsored by FILMLAB. There is also an award for the runners up.
