Lauren A. Meserve will be the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new senior vice president and chief investment officer. She takes over for Suzanne Brenner, who currently holds both positions and will leave the institution to become the managing director and chief investment officer of the bank Brown Brothers Harriman.

Meserve has shared the chief investment officer title at the Met with Brenner since 2014, and has been on the museum’s investment team since 2002. In her new position, Meserve, who worked at the Andrew Mellon Foundation and the Yale University Investments Office before moving to the museum, will oversee the Met’s $3.1 billion investment portfolio.

Daniel H. Weiss, the Met’s new CEO and president, said in a statement, “Lauren has been successfully managing the museum’s investment efforts together with Suzanne Brenner for many years. And within that time the Museum’s endowment has performed extremely well, consistently seeing returns in the top quartile. I have no doubt that Lauren will continue to maintain the Museum’s exceptional standards for its investments.”
