CNN is facing ridicule after the network released a new video advertisement Monday that insists an apple is not a banana.
The 30-second video shows a red apple while a voice over says that "some people might try to tell you that it's a banana."

"They might put banana in all caps," the voiceover says. "You might even start to believe that this is a banana. But it's not. This is an apple."
It closes with the words "Facts First" on the screen.
Some people on Twitter saw irony in the ad.

"Considering all the mistakes they've made this year, you'd think they would be a tad bit less sanctimonious," the conservative writer David Harsanyi tweeted.
An account named Sister Toldjah said, "Some people are trying to tell me that a man is a woman, too."
Another account called Sister J said, "Has this ad been called 'transphobic' yet?"
