Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee meets on HIV priorities

16–18 February 2015 – The ninth meeting of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee for HIV/AIDS (STAC/HIV) took place at WHO headquarters. The STAC/HIV is an advisory group that comprises about 30 international experts and delegates from partner organizations. It meets regularly to review the Organization’s progress and achievements in its HIV work, and to provide state-of-the-art scientific, strategic and technical advice to WHO on its next priorities.

At the STAC/HIV 2015 meeting, the focus was to review the implementation of the 2011–2015 Global Health Strategy on HIV/AIDS, in particular, WHO’s fulfilment of the previous STAC/HIV meeting recommendations. The experts proceeded to review drafts of the HIV/AIDS strategy for 2016–2021 and its development, including consultative processes with global stakeholders. The meeting concluded with the development of specific recommendations that will be considered by WHO during the period 2015–2016.
